Culture Beat é uma banda alemã formada em 1989 por Tania Evans e Jay Supreme, juntamente com o produtor Torsten Fenslau, falecido em trágico acidente de carro em novembro de 1993 aos 29 anos. Culture Beat é uma das bandas mais famosas na cena Eurodance e mundialmente conhecida pelo hit “Mr Vain.” Lana Earl (do hit I Like You) também conhecida como Lana E. foi a primeira vocalista do grupo. Tania Evans a substituiu em 1993. Estiveram no Brasil em 1994 durante uma turné mundial e no cast nacional o Culture Beat contou com grandes músicos em sua banda, dentre eles, Maurício Manieri (teclados), Sérgio Bartolo (Baixo) e James Müller (bateria).

Em 1997 Tania Evans deixa o grupo e o produtor Frank Fenslau (irmão de Torsten que assumiu a produçãoem 93) chama Kim Sanders (Captain Hollywood Project) para assumir os vocais. Entre algumas divergências Jay Supreme deixa a banda em 1998, quando a nova formação havia sido relançada no mercado, com menos sucesso que a anterior.

Jacky Sangster assume o lugar de Jay e em 2003 uma nova versão de Mr Vain é lançada numa versão chamada ‘Recall’.

Sem dúvida, na época do eurodance mais “baba” (que eu também curto), o Culture Beat se destacou imensamente com um som eletrônico mais inteligente e elaborado, como o MC Sar & The Real McCoy, com Operator, por exemplo. Gosto mais dos sons mais “lado B”, Crying in the rain, Inside out, walk the same line, anything, entre outros. Mr. Vain foi um marco mas, tocou tanto, q ainda hoje não tenho paciência para ouvir.
